Well, I’m not quite sure that’s what it’s going to be called but I’m sure you get the idea by now.
This is just a quick update to let you know how we’re progressing. Obviously we have all the Slimpig tracks ready to go on it, but what of the cover artists? They’re coming on nicely! Duke Ukem have successfully recorded their cover (I’m not going to tell you which artist is doing which track, that will ruin the fun!) and Chris Flood’s is sounding spectactular, with a few little bits of mixing left to do.
Anna Goldsmith, Swound! and Suspect Package are working on theirs at the moment while I’m pretty chuffed to announce the Higgins Brothers have entered the fray and offered to record a track too. I can’t tell you how even more psyched I am on this album now.
So basically it’s coming and it’s going to be amazing. In other news we’re gearing up for the release of This Years Winner Is’s debut Ep ‘Always Goes Down Smooth’ so I’ll be talking about that and plugging it and what-not in the coming weeks.
Hey folks! This Years Winner Is went to Scotland recently and recorded a 5-track EP called ‘Always Goes Down Smooth’ which we have decided to release this EP digitally instead of the originally-intended single ‘Hit & Hope’ (which will more than likely be available soon regardless). You can hear a sampler and the single track from the EP, ‘Eleven’, on TYWI’s MySpace site.
The tracks are fantastic (even if I am a little biased!) and we can’t wait for you all to hear them. Until it’s released you can hear what other people are saying about it – like Jamie at RockStopScene, who has done an excellent review. You can read it here: http://rockstopscene.co.uk/blog/reviews/years-winner-smooth/.
Take care and we’ll keep you updated with its release date and also the long-awaited Slimpig greatest hits album, which is gearing up for release very soon!
Hope you’ve had a good January and February is treating you well so far. Here’s some good news – This Years Winner Is will be releasing their debut double-A side single Hit & Hope/Nobody Knows That I’m An Attention Seeker through Section Five Records next month!
The single will be available through all good digital stores including iTunes, Amazon MP3 and more (see About page for all stores) as well as streaming on Spotify and Last.fm. The release date is TBC.
Don’t forget, if you haven’t grabbed your free Slimpig MP3 you still can on the Slimpig page in celebration of the forthcoming album.
Take a look around the new Section Five Records website, I hope you like it. There’s now a section for all the Artists on our roster with links to find them on the internet and also where you can buy or download their music from (including our latest ’signing’, see below!). In even greater news punk rock legends Slimpig will be releasing an album of all their greatest tracks along with an exclusive collection of Slimpig covers recorded especially for the album – featuring local artists Chris Flood, Anna Goldsmith, Suspect Package and Duke Ukem. Also on there are the lovely Manx fellas Swound!.
To celebrate this coming release in 2010 the lads have offered up a free MP3 of the track ‘Lifestyles’ from their first album ‘Slimming With Pigness’ for you all as an early Christmas present! You can download it by pressing this big chunky button below (it’s in a .zip file):
That’s everything for now, hope you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and stay tuned for more great news from Section Five Records in the new year!
