Gigs this week and next

Hey up!  Just a quickie to say This Years Winner Is are playing the Traf tonight (Fri 19th) with Gripper and next week Chris Flood will be playing with Tate! and Strengyn, also at the Traf on Friday 26th.

Since these will be the last two weekends of the Trafalgar’s life before Billy has to close up shop make sure you get down and show your support.

Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I’ll have more details on the This Years Winner Is debut single and the upcoming Slimpig greatest hits album too.

Chris Flood announces second album plans

Hey everyone, great news! Chris Flood recently announced on his MySpace page his plans to record a second album. Here’s what he wrote:

After several hours of discussions with various people here and there (mainly there, in a pub), it has been decided that I, Chris Flood along with some variation of The Chris Flood Band will enter the studio within the next few weeks to begin work on a second album, a follow up to this year’s (or 2008 if you’re on the Isle of Man) debut album ’Opinion is not a substitute for Reason’.

There are a total of 21 new songs ready to be recorded, only a handful of which have been played by myself or the band at live shows. There’s one or two older songs in there, as well as a few brand spanking new ones that have been written within the last few weeks and months. The entire list of 21 songs will probably not make the final cut of the album either; only the best will make it. So in reality it’ll probably be around 14ish tracks. Statistically then, at least one third of the songs I write are shit!

The album will be recorded in Douglas by Phil Reynolds. Having already worked together on ‘Opinion is not a substitute for Reason’ we know how we work and what we can do, plus we get on really well! I’ll keep you all posted with blogs every couple of weeks or when something significant happens.

Meanwhile, there are currently no plans for Chris Flood (solo) or The Chris Flood Band to play any shows to accompany the album.

Take care of yourselves and your loved ones,

Chris.

Announcement from Chris Flood Band

“Those of you who attended the gig on Friday may remember that I announced at the end of the set that it would be our last gig for a long while. For those of you who weren’t there, here’s an explanation:

Over the last few weeks and months things have been going on in and around the band that have not allowed all members to put in 100% of the effort that is required for a band to work. Normally I enjoy being in a band, especially this band as its been my creation, and I would look forward to practicing, writing new songs, getting them sounding better and preparing for gigs. This enjoyment is just not there for me anymore, and I think the rest of the guys feel the same.

So the long and short of it is – there is no Chris Flood Band for the forseeable future. If we feel like picking it up again in the future then I’m sure we will.

Meanwhile, I’ve got an acoustic show at GuitarFest at 11am on September 5th, after that – who knows? Music has always been a big part of my life, but there are other things that need attention too.

It’s a damn shame they have decided to split but here’s hoping they won’t be gone forever.

Chris Flood’s debut album ‘Opinion Is Not A Substitute For Reason’ is still available on CD from our shop (where you can also pick up some merch) and also CD Baby. You can also download it from iTunes, Amazon MP3 and most other download stores.

Chris Flood and Suspect Package doing things

First up it’s Chris Flood’s birthday on Friday (21st Aug) so he’s putting on an all-star line-up gig at the Trafalgar featuring Chris Flood Band, Suspect Package and Divide By Zero (check them out here: http://www.myspace.com/xoverzero).

In further Suspect Package news they are also playing The Black Monday Suicides’ last gig for who knows how long (go here for awesome music: http://www.myspace.com/theblackmondaysuicides) with This City Screams Red (MySpace-age: http://www.myspace.com/thiscityscreamsred) on Sept 4th, also at the Trafalgar.

Finally here’s a cool video of SP playing Fairweather Faith at the Traf the other week:

That’s all for now, bye!
